Indie Game: Rolling Dog by Spotcat Studio

Hello! I’m Hypermike, game artist for Spotcat Studio (www.spotcatstudio.com).

For the past month we’ve been searching for a publisher who would help us fund and publish this game. Since we’re not a very financially stable team.

But with no luck of any publisher in accepting it, we decided to self publish and make this ourselves since we really like the concept.

I would like to share the game we’re currently developing for Android and iOS, it’s called Rolling Dog

here is some concept art for this game:

at first, we made mockups:

and then now work in progress windows screenshot:

It’s running really well in the android and iOS devices too (at 60 fps too)

hopefully we release the initial game in iOS and android soon.

Comments, impressions, suggestions, and moral support are welcome

Thank you! :slight_smile:

Looks fun, the name of the game is kinda old like it needs a unique name not Rolling Dog.

Thanks for your reply soundmusicmaker. Yea, title is really crucial for a game and app. We’re still unsure, but for now, we’ll call it Rolling Dog. :smile:

Update!!!

We decided to change and not limit the game to just the dog characters.

Players can now play choosing the pet they want to control :slight_smile:

Here’s the concept art of some of the many pets that could be part of the game:

Again the art style is very loose and sketchy, this will be very predominant in the entire game and the levels. :slight_smile:

What do you think? With these we will also update the title of the game. Any suggestions?

Thank you very much for looking!!!

Looks like a cool game.

The mockups look nice! Can you tell us a little more about the game-mechanics? What is the goal, what can the player do?
Do you have got a short video, to get a glimpse? ^^

@okm1123 Thank you, we’ll try to make it much better each week

@umauj The game’s goal is to save the puppy from danger and lead it to a safer location.

Though we have a demo working right now that we showed to the publishers, I still am unable to have a video capture software in my machine.
We will try to post a video in the next few weeks.

Love this concept and the characters look good!

@FBTH I’m glad you love it. :slight_smile:

A little sharing…

Since we’ll add more characters in the game, there will be a little revision in the story,
I’ll be sharing the original planned storyboard of this game:

Here is the original story introduction sequence:

Maybe we’ll revise the story in the way the alien wants more pets for himself… What do you think?

I hope you enjoyed these.

Thanks for viewing! :slight_smile:

Th UI all over the Art, AWESOME ;

M;

thanks mamoniem, we’ll still improve the graphics and interactivity more! :slight_smile:

Hi! Hope everyone is safe and having fun this Halloween! My prayers to those who are affected in the last calamity in the east coast of the US.

A little update with our project!

Been working this past few days on the animation of the other characters and the new level art.
Also some UI like the level select screen and splash screens.
I also redesigned the hamster, it looked quite lame at the first concept art.

Being a sole artist of this project (since we dont have extra hand right now, we’re still open for publishers or investors who would like to fund us though) It’s been taking quite a while to finish all the animations alone. But I must do my best. :slight_smile:

On the programming side, we made sure the game is adaptable to all screen resolutions we need to target, so all platforms are covered already. :slight_smile:

Here are some of the screens and updates!

Again, thanks for viewing guys! Hope you continue to follow our little game here! :slight_smile:

Have a blessed and fun season of spooks! >:)

big fan of this, looks like a sweet time waster and love the art style.

name doesn’t do it justice however.

Thanks Seven! Any suggestions for the name of this game? I would gladly bring it up to the team :slight_smile:

English is not our native language, so we’re not sure if the title has any impact with the real English speakers.

We’re open to any of your suggestions! :slight_smile:

Hi!

Finally, I have captured and cut a short clip of the gameplay of our first prototype…

warning: the music is a bit loud… sorry about that

This is taken from the first prototype… I don’t have the current build and we fixed some errors there so yeah, at least you got the idea of how the gameplay works :slight_smile:

Thanks for viewing!

GAH!!! This looks awesome!! I can tell straight away that this is going to be an addictive game XD

Great job with the game so far, the prototype looks great. Keep it up =]

@u-007

Thank you for appreciating the game :slight_smile:

Please continue to follow this thread to see the updates of the game :slight_smile:

Hi! To help us in production of this game we started a campaign in Indiegogo!

Please have a look and support our game!

Rollingpets in Indiegogo

Thank you!!!

Looks pretty interesting. If I weren’t sinking all of my money into my own project, I would contribute. One thing one the gameplay side though, I think it would offer more depth in gameplay if the obstacles did not kill the enemies. That way, you could have some levels where you block enemies, move your offspring, and then unblock the enemy in order to use the stone again. I just feel it would be interesting to have to deal with the same enemies in new ways. You could even give the player the option of killing the enemies or not and offer some kid of reward for finishing a level without killing the enemies.

good insight nharde. yup, these factors can be considered in designing levels. rewarding players by more risky tactics/strategy :slight_smile:

we will consider that in building the levels. we are fans of the stealth genre games like metal gear and dishonored. :slight_smile:
