Initialization Error

Hi,

I cannot start Unity3D 3.0. When I try to start it I get a “This product is not compatible with a non-native windows environment. Please contact the software manufacturer for more information.” error. After clicking Okay on that error box, I then get a “Code: -17” error. Unity then fails to even start.

I downloaded the Unity3D release from the website and installed just as I did the free version of 2.6.1.

Can anybody help me with this annoying problem?

Thanks,
Ricky Bozzy

are you trying to run it in wine or alike?
you need a real windows installation to use it. (potentially they also disabled virtual boxes as they perform worse and allow bypassing the license conditions)

I’m running windows 7 x64.

I think the error might be caused because since the install of 2.6.1, I used a piece of software that changed the boot record on my main hard disk. To be honest, I really didn’t know what I was doing.

Do you know of any way that Unity could work on my PC after I have done this?
