It seems like when I drag and drop objects from my assets to the scene that the position, rotation and especially scale are random.
Is there a way to import objects with there scale, location, and rotation match that of the source file( .max in this case), the same way you can merge in 3D studio max?
If it works, when I import from the same or similer assets it will match, lining up as it does in the source file.
I’ve been studying the problem. The scale problem has been helped by this thread:
although it still seems inconsistant between different files (that are identically scaled), meshes from the same file are now coming in precisely the same size.
Some of my rotational issues seem to be related to the mesh inside object diffrences. If the object is rotated(or scaled, or translated), it will be applied to the object, but the mesh inside is unchanged. I know that these objects were not rotated after they were created, the meshes/objects should align. I wonder if it’s a max thing.
Just remembered! Changed the pivot on several objects in max. I might need to look into that. It’s a neccesary step in many instances so if that is causing the discrepancy, a workaround would be useful.
So there are a lot of things going into this. I still have know idea how to keep the same position exactly, as the only way I know to insert is drag-and-drop.
