I haven’t tried Inspire yet, but Rocco sent me a simple test animation (a contorting chess pawn, if you must know) and Unity imported it and played it back, no problem.
While I’m still hoping for FBX exporting from Blender, this alternative shows a lot of promise. Maybe we finally have that low-cost animator that we’ve been agitating for!
It works as advertised… after some bumps we have one rigged and animated enemy in Unity.
This is what we found out along the way:
(There could be inaccuracies here )
The camera can only rotate about one point, and it really limits selecting things.
No Undo - especially frustrating since it’s really hard to select things, so if I make a mistake I have to start all over.
Can’t resize the windows.
I wish I could select a single vertex without dragging the mouse.
Color between selected/unselected needs to be more contrasting. Black and blue are too similar visually. Ideally it would be a preference.
In short, it’s promising, but is rough around the edges and feels a bit clunky. (Our comparisons are just Blender and Strata 3D) So, thanks a ton, Rocco Bowling!
