Installing 5.1 over 5.0 does nothing

So I’ve tried twice on Mac to run the download assistant and install the Unity 5.1 over a pre-existing installation of Unity 5.0. When I run unity after the installation the version number remains 5.0?

Is there something I’m missing? Do I need to uninstall the old Unity first?

Did you eject the 5.0 installer disk image?

It’s not mounted. I’ve been using Unity 5.0 for a month now.

I had to uninstall the previous version of Unity to get the new version to install correctly.

My advice is to rename Unity in the Application folder to Unity500, and then install 5.1.0. You’ll get a new Unity folder, which you rename to Unity510. You can now delete the Unity500 folder if you don’t need it any more. (I currently have 16 Unity versions on my Mac…)

Lol thanks I’ll try that.
