"Installing..." is taking forever, unity hub.

Mine it’s downloading for like 3,5 hours and is still at 10.7% witch this means I will have to leave my computer running overnight and the problem is that in our area we have short 1 second power cuts in the house witch is enough for my computer shut down , and yes I have a tower pc
I just hope that it will be worth the time and it will not fail, I always wanted unity so now I have to wait like 2 days non-stop probably
I hope I won’t have to wait that long
And I like that Google has an irony like : the download will take less that five minutes , more likely you mean less that five days

I found that it was stuck at “Installing…” with the blue bar at the top. This is what id did to fix it. Go to your desktop, and you should see a shortcut to the version of the Unity editor installer. Double click on that and wait for it to load. Once that is done, it should have fixed itself, and you should be able to start a new unity file.

Like everyone else I too am having issues installing any version of Unity. This worked just fine before now it doesn’t work at all. Frustrated isn’t the right word for what I’m feeling right now.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem on a windows box? I’ve read it is about permission but I can’t see anyone post what those permissions should be.

EDIT:
Okay, I stripped out all the modules and finally got it to work even though it failed twice after I did it.

I had the installer hang on Windows as well and found that an error dialog (visual studio encountered an error) was waiting in the background. Once I discovered it by minimizing everything I had open at the time, I clicked ok on the error dialog and the install appeared to finish.
Note that I had selected “visual studio 2019” in the installer thinking that it needed to install some additional functionality to work with my previously installed visual studio 2019. I had also opened Visual Studio 2019 while waiting for the download to complete. I’d recommend skipping the visual studio 2019 option and install visual studio 2019 separately.

The unity team is making unfinished features and the hub feels like it is canceled like just take this thread unity team is like ignoring it

Changing my HDD to SSD solve the problem. Seem like internally unity hub installer have messy inefficient read/write with unnecessary short timeout that will often failed on HDD (especially my old and slow HDD). So it keep nonsensically crashing without unity team noticing this problem

I don’t think that is the issue.
I migrated from an HDD iMac to a SDD Mac mini a few months agp, and have only noticed this issue recently - after using an SSD.
I never had the issue when I had an iMac with a HDD.

MacOS might be from another problem, I use only windows

how can i say this your completly right i have strong wifi and it took more then a day (its still installing but your comment is 100% relatable)

If someone is facing the issue till Now , Just got the UnityHub Settings And then Choose the Unity Editors Folder , You may have forgotten that,
After choosing close unity hub And reopen, the installing this may go on, but just locate the Editor if its not there, it is installed but just not shoing up.

completely correct! This Hub thing is terrible! Worst of all, this is my first impression of Unity! Great marketing, Unity! In fact, do you know of any other software with both 2D and 3D developing capabilities?

I tried redownloading it and guess what I found out? Unity Hub is the only way to download it now! They NEED to make it so I can download the editor.

Just run the Unity Hub “as administrator”. That’s all.

how did it download for you?

Running Unity Hub with administrator privileges doesn’t hep! This is so frustrating!!
It takes about 5 minutes for me to install, yet the installation ALWAYS freezes at 95-ish%.
It doesn’t happen before I updated Unity Hub to 2.4.5. I think I’ll have to install it manually.

Wow…

in my case download was done in 15 minute of unity 2020 but it is taking lot of time to install

My install has been going for 3 hours now, I have fast internet, and I’ve re-opened hub 6 times! HELP!

I’ve raised this thread with the Hub team, and the recommendation is to log it as a bug.
To do it, go to Account Settings > Troubleshooting > Report a bug

I’ll close this thread as it’s going for some time now.
