😢

hi.

at first, I am korean living in Seoul, and I didn’t study english so hard. so my english is really bad. you guys have to understand that, first. thanks.

I have some problem while I making a game with Unity3d Iphone.

I am a 3D designer, I don’t have good talent about programing. I am just “beginer” so a lot of problems are happen everyday.

my this time problem is this.

in my game, when character is appearing( instanstiate), short delay occured. after that, no delay.

and another character using another texture is appearing in the screen, another short delay is occurred.

I think that textures are main reason of the delay.
I think I have to fully preload my texture files using scene before playing.

But I don’t know how.
and I am not sure that texture preloading will be my solution for my delay problem.

I need your helps.

thanks.

Yes, your problem is that you aren’t preloading the data before it appears. The simplest way to fix this is by instantiating everything before the level begins. Place a “loading” screen up while this happens so users can’t see it happening.

There are ways to do it in code, but I generally don’t code for my team, so maybe someone else can tell you 😛

There should be a “pre-load” type of command to avoid this glitch without actually having to place an object in the scene. The current workaround also requires that the instantiated prefab be within the camera view to be considered loaded.

Agreed, this has come up way too often and getting it to work properly feels like voodoo. A pre-load function is badly needed.
