Integrated Graphics Cards - r they worth trying to support?

Aye…

I’ll just start with my own machine used to make my Unity game: it’s a laptop with an nVIDIA GeForce 7150M. That said, it’s an integrated graphics card (IGC) that won’t let me go above about 70 FPS in Unity, even when the game is not maximized and only the camera is activated.

The nature of my game requires there to be more polygons on the screen than usual (the fact that its third-person, among other things), and since every polygon counts, I’m starting to wonder if I should just tell my potential players in advance that they probably won’t be able to play my game with integrated graphics card, or if supporting such cards is essential to the success of a game.

This game will be released for free, but this question would also apply to paid games too. Most of the PC games out there don’t seem to do that much for IGC (from personal experience), so what do you guys think?

Check out these stats from the Unity web player, the integrated sector has a large chunk of it.

I myself and working on an Integrated 945GM from intel on my laptop. Recently shaders have been causing my computer to lock up  . It depends on what you want your target market to be. Integrated graphics are popular for netbooks and laptops so if you want the whole portable gaming market you need to go for it.

I am going to attempt to make my game playable on the portable market, but if it can’t then it can’t. I just want to play my own game .
