Integrating AnyPortrait with 2D Topdown Game

So I found this awesome asset in the unity asset store, and it is amazing. I want to buy it, but not sure it’s a good investment for my current project, since my project is a top down rpg. I want to know if I can use AnyPortrait as a way to animate art on top of the scene, like in some JRPGs with character art for npcs and characters that are animated. If so any links that may help me would be appreciated This is the link to AnyPortrait: . https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/animation/anyportrait-111584

Hello!
I’m Seungjik Lee (nickname Dev.Rainy) of the RainyRizzle team who developed AnyPortrait.
Thank you very much for your interest in AnyPortrait.

AnyPortrait, like other similar 2D character creation programs, uses vertex morphing or bone animation as its core technology.
The advantage of these techniques is that you can use a few sprite images to create various character motions.
This tool can be quite helpful when you create a side-scrolling game similar to, for example, “Vanilla Ware”'s “Odin Sphere”, “Dragon’s Crown”, and “Darkest Dungeon” of “Red Hook Studios”.

But in top-down games, characters need to move not only left and right, but also up and down, and in many other directions.
In this case, the animation techniques described above used by these AnyPortrait-like programs may not be useful.
In top-down games, it can be more effective to use the “Sprite-Sheet” technique, or to create a character in 3D and render it like 2D.
Of course, AnyPortrait has “the ability to swap the image of the mesh”, so you can create a top-down game using AnyPortrait.
But, this may not be very effective, and we recommend using a better alternative.

Honestly, our team wants a lot of users to use AnyPortrait, but more than that, we want game creators to make good games in an effective way.

From another point of view, if you want to animate the character illustration that comes out of the character dialog, not the character moving around the world, I recommend using AnyPortrait!

There is a lot of information on our homepage, including how to use it.
It is recommended to refer to this.

Thank you and Happy New Year!

Wow, thanks for the response! Yeah, i meant only in the dialogue screens. Like when you talk to a npc, the character dialogue pops up. I want to give a little more depth to the sprites by having each npc have illustrations with animations in the dialogue screen to make them feel more alive.

If you want to create animated illustrations in dialog screens, AnyPortrait will help you.
It may take some time for you to learn this tool, but if you learn all the features, you will be able to create great work!
There are sample demos running on the web on our homepage.
Among the demos, you can see the demo similar to what you need from the link below.

And if you use AnyPortrait, we will always help you, so feel free to contact us anytime.
Thank you!

Thanks! I will definitely buy it!
