Interactive model view - The Trék

First of all I’ll introduce myself to those who don’t know me, I’m fourteen from Australia and I mostly model chracters, this was a kind of “next geny” character from my newly resurrected project, Hostile, done in 6 hours it was also my first speed model (done in one hard weekend :smile: ) .

The scene is pretty dark so it’s hard to see. The model itself looks good but the texture isn’t that good. It’s really shiny which makes all of his armor look organic. Also the normal map is just making the armor really bumpy.

I’d say, work on the texture some more but the mesh looks alright to me.

30 years ago Disney released this scary movie called The Black Hole, it was very un-disney like because it scared the crap out of all the kids. anyways they had these lobotomized slaves running the ship - i found a pic:

Your character’s redface plate immediately made me think of this. You designed a scary character, faceless and creepy. The green lowing backpack is well modeled and really looks like its some sort of power supply or food/liquid that’s “feeding” your character. The red faceplate and green backpack will be good ways to have the character show up in dark places since they seem to glow (especially the backpack tubes)- i can imagine them being his weak spots and they’re easy to spot if you have more of these guys. I like the bumpy armor - it’s kind of reptilian, but i would also listen to Zylex’ post about it. There may be ways to give him this organic armor look without so many bumps all over. Great job overall. If you can do this at 14 by the time youre 20 you’ll be creating CRAZY stuff - keep at it and get that game out.

oh my gooood… that is EXACTLY what I was going for! I found most shooter games the player really didn’t “fear” the enemy - this design was for a shooter that would make you fear your enemy, and like you said, (take in mind this a a story I wrote (50 pages of awesomeness) so I knew what atmosphere I wanted) the backpack contains pipes which transport a chemical throughout the creatures body, like a drug - when destroyed, the creature become very manical and creepy and lunges for the player swiping at them and becomes very powerful and almost invulnerable for a moment (thus making the player shit his pants :smile: ) .

I’m trying to balance horror and gameplay ( after that the challenge is how to make some convincing sounds :wink: )
