Introducing Unity Muse and Unity Sentis, AI-powered creativity

What is the expected date for this to be out of Beta? This is basically a no-go for my company if we can not use it for commercial use for many years.

So it’s exactly the same as chatGPT, because that is also the dumbest thing I have interacted with.

Stuff like this exist: https://gpt4all.io/index.html

The “who would dare use it” whilst it’s providing an insecure feedback loop AND its results unusable question leaves us with a very low level of users and/or low level use cases for beta testing. So how’s it going to get better enough to be good enough for actual usage.

OK, try downloading that and tell me if it can write you some Unity code. If it can then they could sell it for a billion dollars.

I mean you can’t imagine a model of that size trained specifically for Unity coding to actually be as good / bad as chatgpt at that specific task?

ChatGpt does a ton of things, all of them badly. I’m pretty sure you can run an LLM on a laptop that does a few things badly.

Of course. But I’ll bet you $5 that Muse will be a web-serviced thing. After all… they haven’t said it’s not.

Oh, I don’t actually disagree with that, Unity does like its stuff to be web based even when they really don’t have to be, it gives them more control and potentially higher sub prices (because you are paying to use the hardware too or something).

At this point, I’m afraid we’ll have to avoid any current AI until the legal implications are cleared up.

:(Well that’s going to set the singularity back a few years!:frowning:

On a different note, I have stuff on the internet. Does that mean Chat GPT owes me money? :sunglasses:

I typed my name into Chat GPT and it didn’t know who I was. :frowning:

wondering the same.

There are lawsuit every day on AI. This is just sensational headline. Even if US rules against it, it will not apply on an international level. LLM are just too widespread at this point - there is so many viable open source LLM.

I doubt this. The US is super-strong on copyright laws even around the globe. Pesky trade deals.

The problem is not AI but the sources to train it. And nobody is going to forbid you from using open source software, but using it on commercial projects can put you in a lot of legal trouble that indie devs don’t have the money to face.

And how are you going to prove that AI was used in the development process ? While I can see a point for image generation, AI code assist is no different than browsing internet for answer. For us End-Users, we have no risk. The one in legal trouble are those who train the AI. As indie dev, it is the least of your worries.

So hey this facial animation thing–when do we get access to this?

I’m somewhat disappointed this thread has gone silent from the Unity side after some early participation. There are plenty of unresolved questions here that are worth addressing.

by the way i didnt know where else to ask for help so i came here

That’s just a class action lawsuit. In the US these things are a dime a dozen and are started by lawyers wanting to make a quick buck. We had one just last year for this game engine.

Yes, but also if a ruling comes out that you can’t just scrape random stuff off the internet, or you need to disclose everything you used, etc etc, it means big trouble for all current models.

Not saying it’s super likely to happen, but still.

And if they don’t just settle out of court which is very common for class action lawsuits in the US as once again it’s largely about the money.

“Integrated” sounds like lawyer speak. Has it been trained solely off of that data? Or does it include third party data?
