Hi, I have a iOS Pro license and I was just wondering if anyone knows whether or not upgrading the Unity iOS license is necessary if a new version of iOS is released? (I’m not talking about an upgrade, I mean a whole new iteration. eg. iOS 6 → iOS7)
I figure it wouldn’t be necessary unless it was a whole new version of Unity that is released, but I thought I’d ask just in case.
Generally, Unity has done a great job supporting older versions of the editor. Even Unity 3.5 received a free upgrade after the iPhone 5 was released with its new screen dimensions. Obviously, I can’t say how they will behave in the future, but from their past actions I’d generally expect them to provide free upgrades to existing Unity versions, that leverage new iOS features as they become available (so if iOS7 comes out, and Unity is still at version 4, I’d expect them to release a free upgrade for version 4 owners).
Of course iOS is backwards compatible as well, so iOS7 should run iOS6 apps just fine.
