We’re proud to show you our new iOS game Neon Drive!
Neon Drive is an obstacle-dodging game like you’ve never seen before. It pays homage to the '80s retro arcades and iconography, but uses the power of iOS devices to render amazingly crisp and beautiful graphics. The levels are hand-crafted and synchronized with custom-made retro music. As a surprise, each level features a gameplay twist near the end, making the game much more interesting than it already is.
Music is the major feature of the game. The obstacles are carefully placed to match the rhythm and the whole experience is a synthesis of music, visuals and player actions. That means you’ll do much better in the game if you already know the music. So here’s the game’s original soundtrack to get you prepared: http://musicheadapp.com/s/?m=dl1-s1Dv#
Thanks for reading! The expected release date is the 5th of November 2015.
After receiving awesome praise for Neon Drive, both from Apple and our players, we’ve decided to make a PC/Mac/Linux version. We don’t want to simply port it as it is, but we’re working on major improvements, mainly graphical ones.
The game is on Steam Greenlight. It’s doing great but it needs more votes, so if you like the game, please take a moment to vote and share it with your friends: Steam Community :: Error
Not sure it works on anything but mobile, but for mobile I think it’s nice. I think it may be a bit too thin to stand on platforms which typically engage users for hours at a time.
I like the visuals a lot but I wouldn’t described the ‘hopping into different lanes to avoid rectangles’ anything to do with an 80’s race game and more to do with popular mobile copying. Does the road ever bend? It does look attractive.
Based on what we have seen, the guys behind neon drive are one of the most talented set of Unity indie developers. It’s rare to find their combination of skills.
VERY nice visual style. I was a kid in the 80’s, so you get bonus points. I also remember those cheap handhelds which are probably the inspiration for your gameplay.
