iOS submission with UnityAds - what should IDFA setting be?

I am in the process of submitting my App for iOS.
Got to the bit in the submission process where is asks about the Advertising Identifier - does it use IDFA.

have read around the subject a little…
I am using several ad providers:
iAds - this doesn’t use IDFA.
Admob - this does and uses ‘Serve advertisements’ only
Unityads - can’t find out what this uses.

Any ideas what Unity Ads should be set to?
options are…

  • uses IDFA

(and if so these check boxes…)

  • Serve Advertisements
  • Attribute this app installation to a previously served advertisement
  • Attribute an action taken within this app to a previously served advertisement

Thanks in advance

Dave

There’s another posting in Answers - http://answers.unity3d.com/answers/942578/view.html.

I have the same question.

There is a reference to IDFA in the Unity Ads documentation here - Tracking install events with a server-to-server integration, but this only seems applicable for advertisers, not publishers. So my guess is that Unity uses the IDFA but we as publishers do not. So we would answer, “No” in iTunes Connect when submitting the app.

Thanks for the reply Jake - unfortunately I can’t see the contents of the first link - does it contain any answers or more questions?

It’s well hidden.
Unityads use IDFA like all ads provider, serves advertisements off course, For the rest I asked Nikkolai.
I already submitted my game so hopefully I was right (toggled off attribute this app and action taken).

Yes, Unity Ads does use the IDFA.

Once you select “YES”, there are three more questions Apple asks about the IDFA. The answers to these questions are: YES, YES, NO.

Haha ok, that should be alright.

One aspect of the OP’s question, which wasn’t touched upon, is what do you do when Unity Ads answers YES to 2 out of the 3 IDFA questions and the other Ad network(s) you’re using answers YES to 3 of the questions?

Do you select YES for all 3? Would your game get rejected if the Apple reviewer just saw the Unity Ads as it doesn’t fulfill the third question?

Might be worrying too much and we can just say in the reviewer notes

Please explain to me … what should I put in :
[Check Box] I, M**** ****, confirm that this app, and any third party that interfaces with this app, uses the Advertising Identifier checks and honors a user’s Limit Ad Tracking setting in iOS and, … etc

I also would like to know about the 4th checkbox. How to set this one?:

“[Check Box] I, Name**** Name****, confirm that this app, and any third party that interfaces with this app, uses the Advertising Identifier checks and honors a user’s Limit Ad Tracking setting in iOS and, … etc”

edit: I just noticed that while you don’t check this 4th one, the SUBMIT button is grayed out, so I guess I’ll just have to trust Unity Ads with this one and set it to YES.

With Attribute an action taken within this app to a previously served advertisement as the third right?

What about the new last option?

Same question here, ready to submit to Apple but not sure if this should be checked.

You need to respect the ‘trackingEnabled’ variable in the callback :

So what you need to do?

BUMP
just need to make sure that unity ads do respect the “Limited Advertising Purposes” settings…

As in privacy policy described, Unity Ads honors “Limited Ad Tracking” and “Opt Out of Ads Person” settings:

https://unity3d.com/legal/privacy-policy

Additionally, all users, regardless of their location, may opt-out of all personalized advertising by enabling privacy features on their devices such as Limit Ad Tracking (iOS) and Opt Out of Ads Personalization (Android). See your device’s Help system for more information
