Hi there,
My artist, who is using Maya, to create 2D images in 3D space with Toon Shaders is currently unable to port his work to me. He believes it is something to do with the toon shaders. I have Googled it and found a thread…http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/14631-2D-art-and-toon-shading… but am desperate in terms of time and am hoping someone here can give me insight.
Is there a setting that he is missing? That needs to be used in order to achieve this that that thread does not cover?
The toon shading script works on ios if its arm7. Buts its really slow, dropped our game by about 20 fps
Really?!
What are the alternatives?
I have no idea of how to work in Maya, or what is needed. I just want the artist to be able to produce 2D cartoon like artwork. Not unlike Zombieland etc.
We changed the models in maya to look more toony and also put black lines on the textures to give the edges that black outline look. But that only works for things that dont move.
So what is the significance of toon shading? Why would it (and this is just my artist’s theory) that it is a main contribution to not being able to port out. You say you can, but it damages performance.
Its just good if you want that cartoony feeling.
hmmm.
but it is engine costly.
There are ways you can recreate a cartoon feeling tho with out Toon Shading?
Yeah. Might as well give it a try and see if the look outweighs the performance.
