So apple just spammed all of us iPhone devs that as of today they are officially accepting app submissions for the iPad between now and march 27th.
They will review and tell you if your app is iPad ready, if it is then you can submit it for final review and iPad launch.
If you do not get your app submitted by the 27th then no dice on iPad launch and no say as to how much longer you’ll have to wait.
I know that Unity is shooting for “day 0” release, but with this news from apple, “Day 0” is today basically.
Where does unity stand as of now with the iPad update?
I know Tom is on vacation and he is usually the guy to answer these questions, but I am hoping we can at least get a yay or nay from someone today…
if unity got a device by now potentially on the real day 0
but the last informations they have posted here when this question came last up is that apple does not see UT as important enough to give them a device to port the technology in a timely manner (aka they didn’t have it back then) so they at best might be able to use the simulator which is useless as we have 0 information about the hardware characteristics at all. (and performance is the very thing the simulator could not be used for anyway)
I work at a 3rd Party Apple Retailer, they are dicks lol!
There is no NDA to sign, this is open to all registered iphone devs.
And yes UT doesn’t have a unit yet. They confirmed that at GDC.
Unfortunately apple will not be accepting “iphone” submissions for the initial launch. They have to be formatted for iPad
This is the email -

LOL although I think you have to do more then sign an NDA with apple to get an iPad, I am pretty sure they require your firstborn or you testicles in a jar.
