Hi
I’ve a ipad one, and doing some testing app which the performance is maxed out (I have squeezed everything drop of performance I can). I’m using it for demo showcase only so I’m thinking if the ipad 2 will have much better performance. IPad3 is around the corner but if the performance is much improved, I don’t mind getting it.
Any one has experience to share?
No, since the iPad 2 just came out a couple months ago. The iPad 3 is a long way off. In any case, the graphics are “up to” 9 times faster, and while your framerates won’t actually be 9X, the graphics performance is significantly higher than the original.

I’m very New to Unity and just have Done my First Tests on iPad2.
I could Run a testproject from you and compare framerates.
Just make a representative scene and send it to me, or send me an app.
It’s at minimum allowing you to do twice as much.
The big bottleneck of the ipad1 is the fill rate and overdraw and this is completely solved in ipad2 - you can throw a bizzarely high amount of stuff at it and it doesn’t blink. Yes it will solve your problem.
No, ipad3 is next year.
Hi Cascho, I sent you a test scene. On ipad 1, the inital camera position runs around 15 fps.
