I develop with an ipod touch and have no access to a new one or new i phone. I am using unity iphone basic 1.7 so is there anything I will need to change for it to run fine? for instance will the display scale ok for the higher res screen? etc
If you don’t add code for this yourself, it will just double the screen on a per-pixel basis.
If you want to support the retina display, the best thing to do is upgrade to Unity 3. And off course having a testing device helps (still waiting for mine myself).
hey guys,
don’t forget that the new iPod touches use the new retina display - so I guess that would be a cheaper way of getting a new higher res device to test on…

Yeah, that’s what I ordered ![]()
… but this will happen to all other old games too which are not support retina display
OFF TOPIC : Smag I love your games!

That’s nice to hear!
More (and better :)) games are coming very soon. Just a few more tweaks and Pig Shot (published by Nexx studios) and Robin Hood - Archer of the Woods (published by Clickgamer/Chillingo) should finally be ready.
I actually quit my day job (still have a few weeks to work there) to work 50% as a freelancer, and 50% on my games. So I hope to be producing new stuff a lot quicker.
Does it really? I just tried mine on the iPhone 4 Simulator (using Unity 3) and its small (and the button presses all out of whack)… Or is this the simulator not working?
It does really. I wouldn’t bother with the simulator for anything.

An FYI, went and bought an iPod with Retina display, threw my 480x320 build onto it, and it looks sweet. The difference in quality can only be picked up by the trained eye of a pro game artist (a friend of mine)… I couldn’t see it! As far as I’m concerned the general public won’t know the difference either.
