Iphone Game refused

I read here on the forum and an other forum that some games and application get refused.

  1. what are the main reason why they get refused?
  2. is there list of spec you need to meet?
  3. what is the percent of application/games they refuse

any idea on this?

It used to be mainly fart apps that they didn’t approve, but now just about anything goes except for extreme violence (cartoon is ok, just nothing too real). Check out ‘Hill Billy’ as an example of a game that originally wasn’t approved, but with the removal of on-screen blood splatters it got green lighted.

Also now apparently you are not allowed to post “lite” versions…

I got this from apple

Ragdoll Fun! Lite cannot be posted because it is a beta or feature-limited version.

Lite versions should be totally fine.

But you are not allowed to submit apps that contain disabled functionality, so if there is a button, it must work.
You are not allowed to add nag screen and anything alike.

So nothing in the range of demo / shareware or it will not be approved

Not sure I understand then…

…how is a Lite version distinguished if not to have features/levels removed? How does one ‘demo’ the game to gain a customer?

Meaning, for example, you cannot have a button which works in the “full” version, but does nothing or displays a nag screen in the “lite” one.

You may, however, have less levels or some such thing in the “lite” version, as long as they are completely removed with no nag screens, etc.

You can remove functionality but it must be removed completely.
You can not have a button that would work in the full version but is grayed out / disfunctional.

every application sent to apple must be a fully working application

Oh gotcha…thanks guys.

You can have advertisement for your full version in your app though, and/or a “buy full version” button that links directly to the app store, with a feature list of what you’ll get.

What about a little message that says “this is what is available in the full version” and then shows pictures?

I am pretty sure I have seen this on apps that are in the app store currently :?

Possible up to a given point yes.
Question is in which way the acceptance for those things will change with OS 3.0 and the in-app store selling impossibility in free applications.

I’ve obviously missed an important discussion somewhere, but could you please clarify what you mean by this?

The v 3.0 SDK / OS (currently in beta) includes the ability to sell “add-ons” from within your app.
