IronSource, LevelPlay,Mediation or no mediation... what will be next??

Hello Everybody,
I have been struggling with implementing the IronSource ads package to my existing and WIP games for a while. The gradle issue, Win32 issue, mobile resolver issue… Frankly, it is a F****ing mess. They have made 3 different packages to provide us with the best solution in such a short time, and I don’t even think anybody has complained about the Legacy Ads package. Anyway, today I got to the point where I was filling in payment details on my IronSource account. All was going good until I was prompted to fill in a tax form for the American IRS! WTF? I live in Europe, I am not an American citizen, and I have never been there for holidays… You get my point… Is it only me who finds it weird? I, personally don’t feel OK with giving away my taxpayer’s number from my country, and other details to a foreign company, that will pass it to the American Tax Office. This nonsense, the increasing complexity, and the issues made me think about changing the ad provider for my games. I have been up for using Unity Ads as it seemed the right choice, same platform/owner and I wanted revenue to go to people who provided me with the software. My games at the moment are made so I can learn to make better games. I don’t expect any of them to bring me money, and I don’t waste time marketing them, but I still want to learn at least a bit about how the business/ advertisement market works so I can make more informed decisions and better incorporate the ads to my and player’s benefits. In light of that, do you also find all the issues and increasing bureaucracy and complexity too much? Do you use other ad providers with mobile games that you would recommend? (I mainly want to use rewarded ads) I am considering using Google AdMob, which seems very simple. Does anyone have good experience with AdMob and can tell me if I will find similar surprises, with some nonsense tax crap, endless forms, or other issues? I simply want to throw some ads in my game and continue creating.
Any advice will be much appreciated. Cheerio.

Thanks for reaching out and really sorry for that. Regarding how to fill in a tax form under your ironSource account , Just please raise a case here and we assure our operation team will assist you with a clear guidance.

Thanks for the offer, but that is not the point. If I can code, I can fill in a form. My rant is about European citizen filling in a tax form from the USA. I don’t get it and I don’t like it. I NEVER had to disclose my taxpayer’s number or other details to anyone and now I am supposed to give it to UNITY and they will pass it to the American IRS? I have never even been to USA, I don’t know how it works there, but here it is unheard of.

If Unity continues to keep making things more difficult for the developers, people will move away. One of the core aspects of Unity is how easy it is to start, when you start adding complexity outside of what developers like doing (coding, creating) you will drive them away. I understand that you need to make your company profitable, and there are reasons why you chose this company over another one to run your payments, but this sucks.

Hi, I don’t believe you have to do fill a tax form form the USA since there are a lot of publishers from non-USA as far as I know, what you need is just to raise a case to our support team, they will assist you for sure.

The NPC-level response you got is absurd… I too find the bureaucracy aspect of this thing extremely unjustified. Have you found an alternative solution that doesn’t involve filling in tax forms?
