Is Add Force The Best Solution

Hi I want to have a bird that gets pushed up when you flap but the wings flap independently based on what you press (i.e q = left wing e = right wing) and that when you flap you get pushed up on the side that you flapped I am a novice and was thinking I would use Rigidbody.AddForce but was wondering if their was another method or idea someone might have.
