Is better Use a single ( very very big ) spirte or a lot of sprites?


I’m writing this question, because I’m using a very big spirte ( it’s format by 2500 tiles 32x32 joined together with GIMP ), but I don’t know if is better use that abnormal sprite or use 2500 sprites joined together in the Unity Editor.
Which method yield best performance?

well with one sprite I would think you draw 6 vertices, with 100 of sprites you draw 600 vertices. Also, each sprite object takes memory for header and other requirements.

On the other hand the big one may look stretchy and pixellated. So it is more a matter of balancing the look and the resources.
