Is game industry sector in crisis?

Last days i see Connect, the new Unity community tool based in Slack, this tool is in beta state but the data show some disturbing, for the moment have 60000+ developers but only 400 jobs or tasks, I assume that almost 50% of developers are beginners but if this is the case 400 jobs for 30000 developers are bad numbers, then this data is showing that game industry sector is in crisis?

No. Most of those developers aren’t even aware you can advertise on connect for jobs to start with. The entire thing is not only beta, it’s also WIP and for many different purposes. It’s not just for work.

I’m on it and I have no plans to use it for work in the slightest. Same goes for most I imagine. If people are serious about work, they probably don’t advertise here, but use agencies.

Bearing all that in mind, I’d say 400 active jobs is way more than expected, probably about the number of jobs a large AAA studio would have to rifle through…

I think just creating a Unity ID gets you in connect these days. So the 60,000 devs will be massively exaggerated over the number of people actively looking for work via connect.
