Is it allowed to buy 3D models in Asset Store and make them into 2D

I want make a 2D game and I am asking me, if I can buy 3D models in Asset Store and the make them into 2D sprites with screenshots for example. Is this allowed?

For What purpose?

You can’t redistribute them in any form (as source files, modified source files, etc.), but you can include them in the final product: game, app, video on YouTube, etc.

Check Asset Store Terms of Service and EULA.

Assuming you are wanting to make a game or a movie etc. (i.e., don’t redistribute source assets) it’s allowed.

If you would like to sell renders/cutouts of them as sprites or sprite sheets and the like… that could be not allowed, but one would need to very carefully read UAS EULA. But the line I think is kind of blurry. Also morally (at least for me) it would be a wrong thing to do without asking for explicit permission from the publisher.

Of course I wouldn’t sell them, just use them regular in my game and give credits the asset creator too in the credits. The only different as usual use is just to render it with screenshots into 2D

So that use case is fine  after all… what’s a game if not series of renders of those models?

You have the right not to specify the creator in the credits.
