What I mean is, is it a good thing that every gun has the same attachments? For example, in COD, all the assualt rifles have the same attachments, all the submachine guns have the same attachments and etc. Is this a good idea to implement in a game? I am making a 2.5D shooter and I was wondering if that makes the game boring? What do you guys think about that?
People like to play towards something…In games like battlefield, its weapon attachments/upgrades etc.
In this respect I think its good because it gives players something to work towards. Its not for everyone, but there’s a mentality about it. Its why counter-strike was so very popular. It was an early adopter of rewarding good play.
Not sure how it would make much difference in a 2.5d though.
It totally depends on your game.
If you can, try both and see what players prefer. There’s no point in developers guessing at things even players don’t know about themselves. Things that sound good often aren’t, and the opposite is also true, and humans don’t tend to be good judges of what they will or won’t like ahead of time at the best of times.
Nah, shake it up. Make some guns have certain features and strengths, while other have certain weaknesses.
They key is balance, with the harder to obtain items slightly tipping that balance, but not so much as to make the other guns useless.
It also depends on your game’s design and what sort of experience you want to give the players.
If this helps, this is what my game is about:
Its a 4 player co-op game and your goal is to try to infiltrate certain buildings to rob them of their money. You can tackle any level at day or night and each building is randomly generated. There are 4 unique classes which all are needed to support each other. Each class has a set of personal gadgets that they can use such as grappling hooks, heat vision, explosives, etc.
The kinds of attachments that the guns will have will include:
silencers
grenade launchers
bayonets
laser pointers (improve accuracy)
extended mag
dual mag
Not a lot of attachments I know, but these are the only attachments that could work in a 2.5D game. An optic sight obviously wouldn’t work lol. Now that you know about my game, do you still think its a good idea? I like to hear from people and I don’t wanna put something in a game that people wouldnt like. Thanks for all your replys btw
