Note:
Whatever resolution/aspect you select has nothing to do with the actual build. It’s just relevant to playing the game inside Unity Editor.
Thanks for responding. Here’s a screen cap of what happens when I 1) Select “Free Aspect” and 2) Click on “Stats” button in the game panel:
This does not appear to be an editable dialog. Perhaps the functionality you mention is a pro feature?
It’s “Screen”
Under “Render Textures”
Above “VRAM”
Your’s is set to “1176x305”
Adjust the window to change the numbers
As nikolic said, resize the Game panel.

Thanks for responding: I do see the screen stat, but nothing in that dialog is selectable or editable.
Thanks Eric: how do I resize the Game Panel? I am not sure what you mean by this because I don’t see the term “Game Panel” in any of the documentation.
Do you mean whatever panel the Game view is presented in? That changes the screen dimensions in the Stats dialog but has no effect on my builds.
Wait! I think I understand: resizing the game panel affects the build only if I am in free aspect??? But then, isn’t there a more precise way to control it than resizing the window? Is there somewhere I can input the ratio/dimensions I want?
Resizing the game panel has no effect on builds.

Eric, the question of the thread is: Is it possible to deploy 16:9 for Android?
Just make a build; it uses whatever the aspect ratio of the device screen is.
–Eric
What do you mean by “the screen?” Do you mean the frustrum of the camera?
The device screen…
–Eric
Can you link to some documentation on this? I find my builds are beholden to whatever setting is used in my aspect ratio drop-down. Also if the build is dependent on the device, then what is the relationship between the frustrum and the build?
The aspect ratio drop-down only affects the editor; anything that affects builds is in the player settings. (But there are no resolution settings for Android; as I mentioned it uses whatever the screen is. iOS has partial control over resolution in the “other settings” section.) The camera frustum depends on the aspect ratio.

i think he means resizing the window like you would the edge of any windows application…
using the mouse, hover over the very far left of the “Hierarchy” panel until you see two horizontal arrows, click and hold then move left and right… i agree though, wish there was a more precise way to do this
