So, I downloaded the “Animated Horse” from the asset store (https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/16687) and it comes with some basic animations. I would like to use this animations in other quadruped animals I intended to do. There is a way to identify the bones that the horse is made, so I can make my model with the same bones to use the same animations in it with the mecanim system? Sory if this is a stupid question, I’m still new at unity.
I think you just need to skin your other horses with this horse’s skeleton.
Sory, I don’t understand what you mean. And I was thinking in doing other animas, that are quadruped (with the same basic skeleton) and use the animations on them, so, based on what I understood of mecanim, if all animas have the same skeleton, I can use the same animations for all. I can’t find how to identify the horse’s bones to make another things with the same bones.
Yeah, you’re right.
You could import the fbx archive into 3d modelling tools (max/maya/blender), delete the mesh, and only take the skeleton, then skin your other animals against this skeleton
I tried it, but blender can’t open the fbx file…
same here with blender, you could try with 3dsmax / maya.
But both are payed and I don’t intend to buy them just to play. But thanks for the help.
