Is Pause button on iPhone required?

Looking at many screenshots I see some kind of “Pause” button in iPhone games.

Question: is there a requirement to have a “Pause-Button”?

Besides I also miss some kind of “Return to Main Menu” button (not an “Exit Game” which is prohibited).

Question: or should the “Return to Main Menu” button look like a Pause-Button?

There’s no such requirement. If you want to make a main menu button, go for it.
