Is the iOS basic in the unity store version 1.7?

The store on unity3d.com isn’t very clear on the iOS version. It’s very clear that the latest version of regular Unity is 3.1.
Anyways, Im asking because I’ve run into a problem trying to export from unity iPhone 1.6. It says the 3.2 sdk is missing in xcode. I figure i need to update to unity iphone 1.7 if thats the latest version.
Im guessing this is what I’d get if I upgrade my license in the store?
Or for the mean time, are there any free solutions to this problem?

There is no separate Unity iOS anymore, it’s all in one program now. So it’s going to be the same version (3.1).

Your problem can probably be solved by setting the base sdk for the project and target to the latest version in xcode though.

I had a problem very similar and Smag helped me too. I had to upgrade to Unity 3.1. The Unity iOS versions aren’t supported anymore

incorrect, Unity iOS is still supported, but now its a Unity 3 addon aka Unity 3 iOS

Unity iPhone 1.x (like Unity 2.x) is a thing of the past and out of support yeah, but that is nothing new. It only supports up to iOS 3.x and the iPad, no iOS4 support, no retina support

i see. I downloaded unity 3.1 a while back but never really messed around with it all that much. So will i be able to take my licence from unity iphone 1.6 and put it into unity 3.1 and unlock the basic iphone features then?

No, Unity 3 is a paid upgrade.

No, it works with Unity iPhone 1.x only.
If you want to get the current version you will need to upgrade your Unity iOS license on the store by entering your current license key. Upgrade fee for iOS non-pro is $150 I think

I tried to find the license key of unity ios 1.6, but i must have forgotten to write it down or lost it. please tell me i can use the serial key displayed in the “about unity” window even though the last four letters are XXXX.

if you know the last 4 letters out of head then yes.
Otherwise no it must be the complete one.

but you should have a mail somewhere in your box unless you trashed it. in this case you will have to contact sales@unity3d.com to rerequest your license key to buy the upgrade

ok, found it and saved it in about 5 different places on my computer. lol. that couldve been $250 wasted.

ok, after messing around with everything in the last two days, i think i finally got everything working. As it turns out, i didn’t need to upgrade my license, or at least the iOS 1.6 license is working for me right now. I tried to upgrade it in the unity store, but when i copy and pasted the code into the “upgrade existing license” field, my only options were to upgrade to unity pro and it said that it already was an iOS basic license. So if anyone is having similar problems, here are the steps I took that worked for me.

  1. I went to Unity > Enter Serial Key
  2. for me, it said i already had a valid license, and i clicked reactivate anyways.
  3. i selected manual activation
  4. clicked on save license request and saved it to my desktop, then went to store.unity3d.com/manual and uploaded the save license request file and copy and pasted my serial key that i got with my iOS basic 1.6. then clicked on “Activate Unity”
  5. then, back in the unity activation screen, i clicked on “read license” and chose the file i just downloaded from unity’s website
  6. now under Unity > About unity, it said i have the license type Unity iPhone Basic
  7. and finally i went to File > Build Settings, selected iOS platform, and clicked switch platform

and on a side note, make sure you back up your project files before switching over to unity 3. Don’t make the mistake i did and have to go back to a backup from 3 days before and lose your recent work.
