Is there a max number of lightmaps you can have?

I've been having issues with my lightmap baking recently. It either doesn't finish importing the lightmaps, or unity completely crashes, corrupting half of the lightmaps. I'm starting to wonder if the issue has to do with the number of lightmaps that I'm trying to make. Does anyone know if there is a maximum number of lightmaps a scene can have, and if so what is it?
