Is there a pirate site with faster Unity downloads?

Edit: I posted a colorful rant about slow Unity downloads, something I’ve encountered rather frequently. Since this forum allows edits, I thought I would take the opportunity to tone it down a bit. :slight_smile:

It is a puzzle: quite often I’ll get download speeds well below 1MB/s on Unity installer downloads at the same time that other sites are responding normally with 10MB/s downloads.

Since this is the difference between a 3 minute download and a 45 minute download, it is more than a bit annoying when it happens!

This is not an issue of the unity site, but your internet connection. We’re getting constantly more than 7-8MB/s while downloading. (from germany)

And now it’s back to normal here too - just got a nice fast download of a Unity installer - 10MB/s.

The odd part when it’s slow is that other sites are still responding normally in that 10MB/s range (the max for my cable modem). I’ve almost never had a general slowdown on this connection - but on a number of occasions Unity downloads would bog down while other sites were fine.

But it’s fast right now, so I can’t complain! :slight_smile:

I’ve read recently that some people find the download manager to be slow, but downloading with the direct link downloads at their connections normal speed.

Use this page instead, and select the download you want from the drop down list (don’t select the “Unity Installer”): http://unity3d.com/get-unity/download/archive
