Is there a way to split up the Standard Assets package?

So, in the class I’m taking, the instructor (who doesn’t discuss the linux editor) imports specific standard assets pieces into his project when starting a new project. When he is at the “create new project” window, he clicks the “Import Assets” button, and he can choose between a whole bunch of smaller groupings of assets, such as “characters”, “cameras”, “effects”, etc., and he can just click checkboxes to select which ones he wants to include in the project.

When I click that button while on a linux box, I can only select “standard assets”, which is the package I got from the unity store. That package does contain all the parts that he is able to select between, but it is rather large. Is there a way to break up the Standard Assets package so that it can show as multiple checkboxes? I tried to locate the package on my filesystem to see if there was a good way to do that there, but I don’t think I see anything that I know how to split up. I know that I can just remove the chunks of assets that I don’t need/want, but it takes quite a while to load the entire set, and it seems kind of silly to load everything if I only want a small portion of it.

Thanks for the assistance!

A probably related issue I’m running into (I’m really hoping I’m just doing something wrong here…):

In the class, the instructor can go to the Assets menu, and under “import package”, he has all of the sub-parts of Standard Assets, in addition to “Custom Package”. I only have “custom package”. I can’t even import the entirety of Standard Assets again if I made the error of removing a piece that I should’ve kept.

Aha! Finally found something on google that helped. For anyone else who finds this thread:

Looks like you can select portions of the package if you import the package into the project from the store rather than from the new project menu. Seems rather odd.
