Is there any ETA for non-preview release?

I’d like to use your Localization Tools, but I’m not looking for an unfinished and unstable product, thus the question: When do you release a “final” version?

The Localization Tools seem to be in development for about 2 years already ( link ). Every game and application requires localization, this is a very fundamental and important package you’re creating.

Why is it taking that long?

Is it because of an understaffed team? If that is indeed the case, I would like to suggest to find the necessary resources to accelerate the development process, because this package is really important.

Hi
We have ramped up quite a bit in the last few months. We have a roadmap and plan to be MVP by November and out of preview during Q1 2021.

Hi Karl,

thanks for the quick reply and great to hear the team ramped up recently!

Is the roadmap public by any chance?

Sadly not. It would be hard to make the roadmap public as it stands, there is a lot of internal stuff in it that would make no sense to people reading it ;). Ill speak to the PM and see if we could put together a simplified version with key highlights for each planned release.

Is this still the plan?
I need it for text localization only, using 2019.4 and it should work with Addressables. How likely would it be that I run into issues with the package if I bet all my money on it today?

It should support what you need now.
Our out of preview date has slipped to around 2021.2, this is because the cutoff for 2021.1 is soon and we are not ready.

The main limitation that exists at the moment is the ability to adjust other properties based on the text. For example, you will need to write a script if you want to change the Font or Rect Transform values for each language. The font could be in an Asset Table though. We are currently working on an improved workflow to let you change any property for a language but this is very experimental at the moment however it should work alongside whatever you do now.

So if you just need text then it works now and there is unlikely to be any major changes in this area.
