Is there any public for a Rail Shooter engine?

Yes, I already thought of it, I have PlayMaker, but I never tried it so I don’t know how it works, but I’ll check it after my initial release. Thanks for the advice. BTW, I can’t help but to read your name R’lyeh.

I know this feeling too, thanks for the feels. I’m used to it because a good idea is a good idea so it’s normal it’s already done or someone is making it better. Everybody must have gone through that at least once. But here it feels like being overtaken on the finish line of an idea everybody told you it’s bad for years. And you think “I’ll make them see”, you nourrish this plan, think every detail, and when you’re about to show the world, poof! “It’s been done last week, sorry”.
I was also secretly hoping I could make some change out of it to invest in other projects, I’ll just do it for fun and EXP then.

And Starfox is a rail shooter, like Panzer Dragoon.

Well thank for your answers. I’m going back to work. I need to finish my items system and then learn to use animators (yes, I’m that clueless).

No! competition is what gives us great products at cheaper rates! Competition is good, even when something that you have been working on gets created by another person weeks before your ready to launch.
This is something that is good for you and you have 2 options ahead.

Check out the pack and see how things can be improved in your pack - and then do that in your pack. Make the pack better than that one. Incorporate other features and support different game elements into your pack that, that one does not include (as Ryiah said)
Or - if you think that pack is superior and not worth struggling to improve your pack to compete with it, - get working on a game using your pack. You will have a head start on other people who are thinking to create a rail shooter with the other pack. Plus since you are intimate with your pack - you should have a distinct advantage over others who purchase that other pack.

There is one other option also - though I didn’t mention it because for me personally - it’s never an option.
Throw your hands up, quit and walk away. There will always be competition and there will always be someone who can do everything you think you are good at better and faster. Don’t let that fact get to you. Just be your best and work on your own creative content. Make a game!
We all have obstacles, difficulties and setbacks we have to deal with. Its your ability to overcome these setbacks that define how successful you will eventually be as a developer.

Thanks for the motivational speech dude.
I’m really not on competition, much more bent on emulation. Competition can be brutal. I make things out of good will, I’m fair and square but I don’t know how the other part is thinking in a competition.
Anyway, be assured that I’m not gonna give up anytime soon; I already went against friends and family for this project who think it’s not worth my time. Or even game making in general.
This other asset was just a good punch in the stomach, I got better.
I’m still making my asset, and it will be better, I’m still making my game and I won’t stop now I’m seeing results of my work.
And I’m going to make one hell of a fun game, even if it’s just a shitty on-rail shooter.

And thanks again for the cheering.

Honestly man, it’s true that the richest place in the world isn’t a bank, isn’t a government, it’s truly the ‘Graveyard’, so many ideas, dreams, etc, were lost because of one simple thing, ‘fear of risk and what if’s’… It really is so true. So many inventions could have been created but someone decided to say ‘Eh it’s not really that important’ or ‘Nobody will like it so why make it’… The day someone finally realizes this, is the day you can change the world…

Heck someone tried to make me feel like crap tonight because I’d rather program than hangout with friends who could careless about my future, ain’t a single person gonna complete my objectives and aspirations but me and me only.
Understand it will be tough, and most of the time you will loose friends over it, because if you really really want to do something, you will do it. As one motivational speaker says “Seclusion can be a gift”. And as Arnold Schwarzenegger says “When you’re out there partying and horsing around, at the same time there is someone out there working hard, always remember that”.

I’m not in any way saying to not have friends, not saying to coup your self in a house all day (like me) lol. But don’t let competition hold you back. Because Competition is the necessity of creation. Without the competition, it wouldn’t be worth it. You don’t have to ‘in your mind’ directly compete with them, just do your best, make it where it’s really got usefulness, and most of all, love what you’re doing, because if you don’t love it, you’ll give up.
