Is there any way to setup light density regions?

OK some areas of a level will be close to the player(s) and some further away, so shouldn’t there be a way to setup light density regions.

In theory this could massively improve the light baking time and allow for close to player regions of a map e.g. character eye level to have the best lighting and further away regions to have lower light densities.

Perhaps I don’t understand correctly the term of “light density regions”, but if i do then there is a tutorial how to do what you want: 1 and 2
