Is there performance difference between vertical billboard and billboard in particle system?

I neither have access to the internal implementation details of the particle system or have done any performance profiling, but I would be hugely surprised if there was any performance difference at all. There’s certainly not enough of a difference for it to be a factor in deciding which to use.
