Is this a scam?

Hi,

I have received an email from someone claiming the following:

“Hello ! how are you ? I need to use VPN here ( i am in work, I dont have internet in home ) and it dont work with asset store connection, can you help me providing a different way to download ? links ?”

They attached a png of an ‘invoice’. So after some digging around I found out that we can check a purchase using the verify invoice function in the Asset Store Publisher. When checking the invoice number I get “No Record Found”. Should I assume that it is a scam and ignore? Or can there be delays in the invoice system that might not show a legitimate purchase for a while?

If it is a scam has anyone else encountered this? Are there any other scams that I should be aware of?

Yes, it is. Take a look at the asset store publishers group - it looks like a few other people have gotten that exact message.

Thanks opsive! It might just be that it’s getting late in the day here but I can’t find the asset store publishers group… also this is my first time selling assets so still finding my feet.

It’s a Google group for Asset Store publishers - normally they send out the invite after you publish your first asset. I guess you could email them asking for an invite?

Almost same message in the email too.

Do you have a link for this group? I want to make sure i’m not already part of it before requesting to join.

Well spent an hour looking round for links and general info for the Asset Store group. Only found brief references to it and no links. I would not have ever known about it, if it had not been for this discussion. Any links to apply or invites to join would be most welcome…

I just wanted to chime in that we got this message too. Must have gone out to as many as they could send it to.

FYI to everyone, I’m pretty sure they/he/she was going to post the plugins on “http://warezforum.asia/”.

I think there would be no delay in the invoice system cos the database is updated right after the payment
