Is unity 2017 an always online drm software?

Some times I don’t have internet and I can’t open unity editor, the splash screen is stuck on “Loading” and remains like this even if I close and reopen unity 2017

Is a bit annoying to not letting me work if it happens to not have internet.

There is an offline activation method. If this is still not enough then best you contact support explaining your situation. I’m positive they will be happy to help.

I don’t have the pro versions, only the normal free one.

version 2017 Personal

This is a bug that should be fixed in newer versions of Unity.

I believe this issue only occurs when you have an active network connection, but that network cannot reach the Internet. As a work around try disconnecting all network connections and starting Unity.

Maybe because I’m connected to a hotspot but that hotspot doesn’t have internet at the moment I open the editor? The editor thinks I’m on internet because the computer is connected to a server?

I have 2017.3.0f3 this is the most recent? I need to wait for an update, is this correct?

Yeah try disconnecting from your hotspot and see if that resolves the issue.

2017.3.1 was released on Feb 5th. No idea if it addressed this issue. 2018.1 should be releasing soon as well.

2017.3.1 is different than 2017.3.0f3? because in the update window it said there is no update

Yes, 2017.3.1 is a newer version than 2017.3.0. The Unity update checker doesn’t always notify about minor dot releases.

so, how do I update? I need to download everything again?

I have Unity 2017.4.1 and the software still force you to be online to open your projects.

Did you tried this ?

I have the personal edition, the only issue is that Unity fails to load the splash screen where you have the options to load or create projects.
