It was just released on Amazon and I wondered if anyone had looked at it yet?
I know the basics, but I’d like to learn more about shaders to see how they can help.
Thanks,
Ralph

I picked it up over the weekend. Haven’t had the time to really get into it though, sorry.
But looks good just can’t tell more.
Yes, I picked this book up and I greatly recommend this. Its also good for beginners who want to create Image Effects (Pro Only). The main reason why I picked up the book. It goes over in a lot of details different ways to shade objects using surface shaders too. Easy to understand and very effective for someone who wants to learn. Its one of the only few books that actually have a tutorial on many of the topics that it has, I don’t want to spoil it though.
I have this book, and I think I’m having a problem with the first two exercises. Both exercises are very simple, and I’ve completed them by the book twice. At the end of the first exercise, I drop the material on to a sphere and the picture in the book shows a shadow on a plane that acts as a ground, but I don’t see one, nor does book actually say the shader should show a shadow. I can’t tell if the shader is working at all.
The second example has simple instructions and it’s based off the first exercise. The picture in the book shows the sphere has color associated to it, but even though I can change the color in the inspection editor, all I get on my end is a non-changeable gray color.
I’m sure I’m doing something wrong, but I have no idea what. I start my projects with no assets, should I be adding something?
Okay the book seems to have not explained some changes. I watched a youtube video on the first chapter of this book.
