I've finished a game, but how do I get constructive criticism and feedback?

Hey all,

So I’ve actually finished and polished a game to the point that I’ve decided to release it on itch.io (The Attraction Distraction by MadManMike).

It’s a smaller game as I just wanted to prove to myself that I could completely finish a game to (what I feel is) an acceptable standard, do all the polish AND release it. But I want to get feedback.

I’ve posted links on my personal social media for friends and family, but not many of them are gamers, so the feedback has been minimal (plus I kept pestering them all to play the different development builds, I think they’re sick of it and me by now, lol).

Where else can I get constructive feedback and criticism from?

As always, many thanks to all who even read this

P.S. It’s available on Linux and OSX… but I have no way to test those two platforms - ANY feedback would be awesome!

Post it in the Made with Unity forum.

Ideal is if you can make a WebGL version, so folks down have to download & run an untrusted executable. But if that’s impossible, post it anyway!

Wait… web… WebGL? Oh man, not even looked into that yet… but look into that I shall!!!

Many thanks for the pointer JoeStrout, will make that alteration and upload that too… if I can, lol. Expect more noob question posts on this subject soon, lol.

WebGl is the BOSS… I mean, I was surprised how well downloading the SDK, importing it, and making a WebGl version of my build went soo smoothly…

now, my Question is… where can I post/host my Webgl game files?

any suggestions/instructions on how to go about acquiring webspace for my WebGl tests and any suggestions of FREE webhost sites?

these SEEMS to work, hosting WebGl… attempting it now with the test build I made ast night…

actualy it works great… not perfect… I could upload a zip file of my games webgl folder… when click on the download link, it gives me the option to open the zip file, I click on “index” and viola, the game starts up in my Webbrowser…

so… I gotta say once again how impressed I am with Unity… God, I only wish Dani Bunion could have seen Unity.

my mind is blown, once again

Well, asking people to download the zip file and open it in their web browser isn’t much better than asking them to download and run an executable.

You want to find a free/cheap web host where you can actually host your files. I use DreamHost — it isn’t free, but it’s darned cheap. Everybody should have their own website anyway, right? (I actually have about a couple dozen, all told.)

But I bet there are still places you can host for free if non-free is out of the question.
