I’m currently working for a software company, and we are developing a video game for mobile platforms; it’s a 3-D fighting video game.
We are using Autodesk Maya and Unity.
We are having a constant problem among all of our 3-D characters. Knees, elbows, shoulders and the characters in general, are not looking as we expect them to look.
Characters look good in Maya, and when they are imported into Unity, they look good also. When the build is made, characters look weird. Very sharp/pointy knees, elbows and shoulders.
We need to solve this problem as soon as possible. Maybe an expert who can help us solve this problem. Can point us in the right direction?

Thank you very much for your time.
In the quality settings or the skinned mesh, you can specify the skinning quality, meaning for by how many bones a vertex can be influenced.
For testing purposes, you may increase it to 4 to see whether this solves the problem. Whether this is suitable for your mobile game is another question. However, it clearly looks like a weight painting issue to me, because the Unity restrictions were not considered.
