Joystick GUI activates objects.

I have a problem where the joystick GUI on the iPad will activate Game Objects when it sweeps through and passes over them. The objects should only activate when I double tap them. How do I deactivate the joystick GUI area so it isn’t detected as a tap? I’ve tried several approaches but am at a loss. Please help.

I’ve fixed the problem by checking for the GUILayer using HitTest.
