Just making another Island

Hey guys, I was just trying to get the water to look a little more realistic and this is what I have come up with. The island now seems a little saturated so I am tinkering with that to see if I can get it right. Let me know what you think!

wow… im gonna use that technique for trees more often!

Good start. The trees look way too dark and I’d bake in some shadows also. The water looks very deep everywhere, you might try to lighten (by lightening the terrain underneath) where you want to simulate shallow water.

I have to agree with BigKahuna, the water looks too deep in certain areas, especially around the shoreline. Also, you should consider making the trees lighter and slightly less dense, as your current forest looks unrealistic.

If anything, real forests are even more dense than that. I agree that the trees are too dark though.

Isn’t that more of the billboards fault?

Man this reminds me on the Jurassic Park islands… I could already smell some raptors there…

Lol, thanks guys for the replies but as I said I needed to mess with the contrast of the island, that’s probably why I am getting so many comments about the trees. The spots were meant to look more like coral reef then being dark spots of the ocean. I added the spots later on, maybe they should be taken out? Anyway thanks again for all the input!

where have you been on msn btw?

Hmm, I just noticed. On my monitor at home the trees look saturated and I was kinda trying to figure out why everyone was saying it looked dark. Well I just looked at the image on my computer at work and it appears way darker then the one at my home did… Something to concider when making games is the types of monitors the image is going to be displayed on. Noted to self Ill have to buy another monitor that has a higher contrast ration so I can flip from one to the other and find a happy medium.
