I’ve just upgraded to Unity 4.3.1f1 and now the Editor is crashing on startup (using a brand new project). My system is definitely somewhat long in the tooth, but it has always worked OK with previous versions of Unity. I was successfully using some 4.x version previously, though it was definitely prior to the 4.3 version level.
I’ve discovered that I can get things to work by using the “-force-opengl” command line switch, but I assume that’s suboptimal and I’d prefer to get it working properly under DirectX (as it always has).
My hardware is as follows:
- Intel P4, 3.00GHz
- Win 7, 32-bit
- NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 XT
The video card, while ancient, does support the minimum listed system requirements of DirectX 9 with shader model 2.0.
I’ve attached the Editor.log file, which seems to have some record of the crash in case it’s helpful.
I’ve read all the threads on the subject and have tried all the usual remedies to no avail. In addition, I’ve done a full uninstall followed by a new installation, but still get the same crash. Also, my normal credentials have Administrator privileges, but specifically running the app “As Administrator” makes not difference. Any thoughts on what I should try next?
Thanks,
Jeff
