Kubuntu 19.10 Cannot open scenes from a windows project

Hi there,

I have been working on windows, version 2019.2.10f1, so far so good. Installed then kubuntu 19.10, same unity version, pulled the repo as usual…

After opening the project I cannot open any previous scene, it keeps saying that the project was serialized with a higher version… “because it was serialized with a newer version of Unity. (Has a higher SerializedFile version)”

So, I tried to install the latest version via hub 2019.2.17f1 and after reimporting the project I keep getting the same error

Anything I could be missing?

What do you have in ProjectVersion.txt file?
You can always update it manually.

Since you came from Windows, does this can be in any help to you?

This may not work for everyone but sharing since it worked for me. I had this issue with the ProjectVersion.txt not updating itself, but everything else upgrading fine - I noticed my whole data drive, including the project folder, was marked by Windows 10 as read-only after a major windows update (google suggests this is another common windows bug...). Manually removing the read-only flag from the Unity project folder and all subfolders/files then applying made it so Unity could upgrade my pro…

Check other responses in this thread, maybe something will be relevant.

Thanks @senkal I solved it by resintalling again but in this case I ended up using Pop OS! (which is an ubuntu based distro), anyways, all good.
Installed pop os 19.10, put the git stuff, cloned the repo and everything is good to go!
