Laptop Suggestion For VR Development With Unity

There are minimum configurations for VR games. I guess i need more cpu/gpu power for development environment. can you share your VR development environments as laptops?

is following laptop enough for VR development? i have Oculus Rift CV1 and HDK2.

Should be. I’m using a MSI GT62VR-6RE Dominator Pro, which looks very similar to yours. It’s a GTX1070, but I can’t see why the 1060 wouldn’t be enough.

I’m using a Rift, btw. No issues at all running VR games. I even got two 27" monitors plus a keyboard and mouse to hook up to it.

Desktop? What desktop?

@BlackPete Do you just running VR Games? Do you develop VR games on your laptop?

Yes, I run VR games, and yes I develop VR applications on the laptop. No issues whatsoever.

Great ! Thanks.

I’m running a Asus ROG G701VI - Asus ROG G701VI (2016) - Full Review and Benchmarks | Laptop Mag A loudish hum when running, but tolerable noise.

Real GTX1080 performance, can’t beat that right now.

I would recommend looking at Clevos and other notebooks. 1060+ should be totally fine for VR development.

this noise is Harddisk.

No, it’s the fans to cool down the GPU. But it’s not a super unpleasant one.

Did you buy the MSI laptop? If so was it powerful enough for VR development with Oculus Rift? I am thinking of buying one as well, but don’t know if it is truly “VR Ready” in terms of dev.
