Hi there my name is Ben MacLeod; I am an indie game developer just like you.

Four years ago I discovered Unity3D and since have not looked back. I am a graphics guy who is well learned in Maya, Photoshop, Unity3D, Unreal Engine and Java scripting. I love game development and am very passionate about it.

The reason for my post here is that last week I launched my new website Level One Games.

One of the many services that we provide is the chance to see your ideas come to life, as well as the upcoming Unity3D Assets that will be hitting the store soon. Level One Games offers a unique service where you can request the assets from us that YOU WANT!

Your imagination is the limit!

From a character designed by you with all the animations you want, to a full level based on your design, it’s so easy to do just go to our website http://bmacleod1.wix.com/levelonegames and click on the link marked (quote) all the instructions are there. Send me a brief description of what you want and I will contact you ASAP to discuss your need in more detail. Two to three days later your asset will be delivered to you complete and ready to use in your game. The Asset will be exclusively yours, we guarantee the only game you will ever see your asset in, is yours.

Don’t throw money away on an Asset that you only want about 50% of.

I checked out your .wix site but found nothing of your work as of screen shots.
Have a portfolio or anything to showcase what you are capable of?

Not sure if this is right place to advertise… try the Asset Store section to show what you have to offer or try the commercial section to show what kind of services you can sell.

Is it just me, or is the font a bit hard on the eyes?

@bmacleod11 Your website is basically your billboard for your services, the better it looks the better you will do.

Not saying I can do any better, just giving my feedback to help you out. Overall I like the sci-fi vibe. :slight_smile:

The font is difficult for me to read quickly though.
For example:

At a quick glance it looks like you are asking me to click on the “OOOTE TA8”. It is more legible when it is by itself like I pasted it, but inside a big block of text?

If your wanting the big blocky style with all caps, may I suggest “Republikaps”? I might show up a bit better.

I eagerly checked out your website thinking I could spend a couple hundred dollars and get some cool stuff for my low poly game.

The site really isn’t a pleasant experience on cell phone due to the wix brand advertising both at the top and bottom of the viewing area. Results in a thin vertical section to view the actual content.

I know everyone has to start someplace just saying using wix is not doing you any favors. For one I always “read” things like this as “we don’t want to spend any of our own money but we want you to spend yours!”

Also I searched all around and could not find even a single example of your art. Not even a simple screenshot of one of your 3D models.

I’d recommend relaunching after you have a website ready for potential customers.

Thank you for your feedback
we are currently working long and hard to get the website showcase section up and running.
It is regrettable that it has taken this long to be completed, but things have taken a little longer that anticipated.

We do quality work, great animation and costume sound work, however i am fully-aware that me saying that carries no weight.

hugely exited to show what we can do and will let you all know persanally when the showcase is up.

Thank you for taking the time to post a reply.
Its great to hear that you are so enthusiastic about indie development, i look forward to seeing your game.
we are currently working on a mobile friendly version of the site and will be making a switch in the near future.
for now i am afraid i am stuck with Wix.com.

I may be misinterpreting what you are saying here

“we don’t want to spend any of our own money but we want you to spend yours!”

We work long and hard on the Projects we undertake and we cut no corners.
We are putting up assets in the Assets store real soon and offer the service of custom asset creation based on your design,
For Example you are working on a game and may not have the time to do all the artwork, sound and modeling you want
for that reason this service would be an asset in itself
other indie game developers may even lack the skills to do this work, but still want there game to have there design.

the Showcase section of our page has regrettably taken longer than expected but should be all done by the end of today.
I will be informing anyone kind enough to post a reply, when the changes have taken effect

i recently viewed the website in a 32Inc monitor and felt i was going cross-eyed we have started making the changes as of yesterday and should be done soon.

At least it has been moved. Please don’t spam people with your PM. the only comment I left is still visible at the top of your thread. I never mentioned I was interested in any of your services. What you did is pretty rude and bad business practice.

Any unsolicited work pms are classified as spam and against our rules, which lead to forum holidays, depending on how lenient a given mod might be, because ultimately it’s a privilege not a right (this place is first and foremost for Unity users themselves).

Not sure if you will see this for a while. Anyway, clarifying what I mean:

When I visited the site on my cell phone and saw the huge branding sections at the top and bottom of the viewable area (on my phone) it just screams “I am using WIX!” For me personally, when I see people setting up businesses (their purpose is to make money from other people) using things like WIX I see it as such folks are expecting others to spend money and yet the “business” owners themselves do not seem to want to spend their own money.

TLDR: it’s better to invest the tiny amount of money required to set up a proper website (not using free website hosts such as WIX) when you are starting a business venture.
