Launcher icons as mipmap instead of drawable

Hi there

I have submitted a build of a game to Google and received feedback that I need to ensure that the launcher icons should be placed in /res/mipmap-[density]/ folders and android:icon=" @Mipmap /app_icon" added to the manifest files.

Currently it seems Unity builds to the older, non best practice way of /res/drawable-[density]/
This issue has already been lodged in the issue tracker but with only 4 votes I am not sure how soon this will get fixed. Am I doing something wrong? if not, is there a way to somehow edit the apk as a workaround?

Built with Unity 5.4.0f3. I could not seen anything in the more recent versions release notes that said this has been fixed.

Thanks

EDIT:
To follow up I manually created a res folder in my Plugins/Android/ and then duplicated the drawable folders from the apk and renamped them mipmap as well as editing my manifest. Having inspected the apk it looks like it might have worked…

bump, got feedback again. Seems Google is aware of the issue with Unity and said to contact Unity for advice

Also I tried rebuilding with 5.5 and that is no good either
