legacy particle system delay time

Just as the title says. Im using the legacy particle system (not shuriken) and want to delay the start of my particles. So basically after my trigger is activated the particles will begin to emit a few frames/seconds afterwards. Can anyone be so kind as to explain how to do this?

If you’re not into scripting, you can use the animation window to animate the emit property. Note that you can only animate if emit is true or false (0 or 1).
