Legacy using different animation

Hello Unity3D i have a question about animations in legacy.Can i use another models animation to use for my current model im working on now?If example i bought an animation pack on unity3D but i want to use the run and jump animations that came with the pack on the character that im using for the fighting game im creating and i want to know if i can add it to the animation component in the inspector tab and use it.because i have tried adding it to the animation component in the inspector tab and assigned a getkey to the animation and it didnt work.so is there another way of doing this?if so can someone please tell me or show me a decent tutorial of how to do so?

maybe, just maybe, if you named your character model bones the exact names like the original model it might work… but just maybe.
you need to load the FBX model in modeling software like 3D max or blender and change the bones names. then export again.
